Yogurt is the main dish in many Iraqi homes, the Iraqi people enjoy yogurt in many of their meals, they turn the yogurt into a salad, as a drink and they cook yogurt in meats, and chicken. Yogurt is always used as a side dish in many of their meals. Yogurt cucumber salad is a refreshing dish is one of my favorite dishes ever, you can eat this dish for a snack, as a dip with crispy pita bread or simply added to kabab, chicken, falafel sandwiches, it makes in excellent sauce to the sandwich.
Yogurt is one of the healthy food items, because of its highly nutritious, it has an excellent source of protein, calcium and potassium. Yogurt has very low calories and It provides several vitamins and minerals.
Cucumber is healthy food item, because it is low in calories and fat and it contains many vitamins and minerals which makes them a good healthy choice for eating. There are many benefit in cucumbers, they have 96% water which helps in keeping the body hydrated also helps to remove toxins from the body. Cucumbers are important part of skin care due to it minerals, magnesium, potassium, and silica. It reduced the risk of cancer, control blood pressure and cure diabetes.
There are so many benefit in yogurt and cucumber which make this dish a very healthy choice to eat. It is very simple dish that you can prepare in minutes. Enjoy!
5 Persian cucumbers diced
1 ½ cups fresh mint diced
5 cups of plain yogurt refrigerated
½ cup cold water
1 squeeze lemon juice from a whole lemon
½ tablespoon black pepper
2 tablespoon sumacs
In a large bowl put the cucumbers, mint, yogurt, cold water, lemon juice, salt, black pepper and sumacs mix very well and enjoy.
